Improve factory and production process with concept of Digital Factory, Intelligent Manufacturing, Modeling, IoT and AI.
Analyze existing in-process data from manufacturing equipment, Test process and IoT device to get insight in improvement opportunities and root-cause analysis.
Apply machine learning technology in prediction and analysis of process data, time series, images, texts to empower production process.
Develop live analysis dashboards for monitoring and analyzing data from manufacturing, testing process and equipment performance.
Design and maintain well-structured rational database schemas.
Create automated ETL pipelines for IoT device
Research technology and trending in Industry 4.0, IoT application, simulation, and modeling in manufacturing etc.
Educate others on scientific investigation.

To add to Justin's answer regarding work content, Data Scientists play very important role in overall day to day functioning of Micron. We have lot of technical work going on in Fabs, Design Engineering, Product Engineering and Verification Engineering. With so much of technical stuff, we also have lot of data being generated on the daily basis. Data Scientists help us in sorting, summarizing and utilizing that data in order to being more productice and efficient.

The description above summarizes job functions of Data Scientists mainly. ML engineers have also started playing very important role in Micron recently. Here are some examples of work content- Design of product has several important phases of layout and verification. Traditionally, these tasks have been done completely manually, however, now ML engineers are helping in automating many of the tasks which help not only in reducing the overall time and efforts of product development, but also reduces chances of many manual errors. Also, our fabs operate 24x7, 365 days a week and we get lot of data coresponding to million of fab parameters. ML engineers also help us figuring out optimal solutions which can help in improving these parameters, resulting in improved process engineering, fab power reduction and faster product manufacturing.

How can one be prepared for a full time job for this position?
What sort of topics the focus will be on ? And what will be the interview process?

I had applied for the same position last semester and I was interviewed for the same , unfortunately i wasn't prepared hence couldn't get it. Now i would like to be a part of micron hence would like to know properly the interview process and types of questions one needs to be prepared for it.

Unfortunately there is not a right formula to be successful on interviews...but you can study and be as prepared as possible! My advice is to study about the company and to read in detail the job description.
The contents of the interview really depends on the interviewer, he/she will definitely ask you about your technical skills and motivations about Micron. As personality is also very important just be yourself, that is the most important thing!
